Install & Register

Download the KidShield app on your phone. Open it and select "I am a Parent". Create your account using your email — this will be your central command center.

Pair the Devices

Install KidShield on your child's phone or tablet. Select "This is for my Kid". Your parent app will show a QR code — simply scan it with the child's phone to link them instantly!

Grant Permissions

After pairing, the app will guide you through 5 permissions. Each one unlocks a key feature. Tap each card, follow the on-screen steps, then come back and tap the next one.

Accessibility Access REQUIRED
Enables app blocking, screen time locks, and schedule enforcement.
Settings → Accessibility → Installed Apps → KidShield → Toggle ON
🔒
Device Admin REQUIRED
Prevents KidShield from being uninstalled without your permission.
Settings → Security → Device Admin Apps → KidShield → Activate

Notification Access FOR MESSAGE MONITORING
Scans WhatsApp, Messenger, Snapchat & Instagram for harmful content.
Settings → Apps → Special App Access → Notification Access → KidShield → Allow
📍
Location — Always On FOR GPS TRACKING
Enables live GPS tracking, location history, and geo-fence alerts.
Settings → Apps → KidShield → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time

Disable Battery Optimisation CRITICAL
Prevents Android from killing KidShield overnight. Without this, schedules and locks may stop working.
Settings → Battery → Battery Optimisation → All Apps → KidShield → Don't optimise
Samsung: Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → Add KidShield
Xiaomi/MIUI: Settings → Apps → KidShield → Battery Saver → No restrictions
Huawei: Settings → Battery → App Launch → KidShield → Manage manually → enable all 3 toggles

YOU'RE ALL SET

Shield Active 🛡️

Once all permissions are granted, the shield is live. You'll receive instant push alerts on your phone if any protection is ever disabled — with exact steps to fix it. Here's a quick reference for what each alert means:

"KidShield Removed!" — App was uninstalled. Reinstall & re-pair immediately.
🚨
"Protection Removed!" — Device Admin deactivated. Child can now uninstall. Re-enable immediately.
⚠️
"App Blocking Disabled" — Accessibility was turned off. Re-enable via Settings → Accessibility.
⚠️
"Message Monitoring Off" — Notification Access revoked. Re-enable via Settings → Apps → Special App Access → Notification Access.
⚠️
"Web Filter Disabled" — VPN stopped. Toggle Web Filter OFF then ON in Parent Dashboard.
🚨
"EMERGENCY SOS!" — Your child pressed the SOS button. Call them immediately and check their GPS.
